OVERVIEW OF THE UNIVERSITY


Palacky University in Olomouc is a college with a long tradition. It was founded in the 16th century and is the oldest high school in Moravia and the second oldest in the Czech Republic. At present it is a modern educational institution with a wide range of study fields and a wealth of scientific activities. At its eight faculties, 20,395 students study in accredited study programs (2017). Palacký University is ranked among the best ranked Czech universities according to international rankings and is also very well versed in foreign universities.


Top Research


Palacký University is one of the so-called research universities, which means that its primary objective is research, development and innovation. Not only qualified teachers and scientists, but also students who lead the university to engage in research plans and projects contribute to this. For most studies, you can also get a doctorate degree. Experienced medicine, nanotechnology, optics, kinanthropology or experimental physics are among the top. Special pedagogy, physiotherapy or political science also enjoy a very good name.


Library


The library is here for the university. For her students, educators, scientists, employees. It also welcomes visitors from the public. The arsenal, together with eight faculties libraries, is guarding more than a half million dollar fund and inviting its services to study, to debate, to a journey of learning.


Science and Technology Park:


The science and technology park of the Palacky University in Olomouc builds a community of enterprising people that associates with UP Business Club. Provides rental of space-offices, laboratories, semi-operations, coworking, or virtual residence.


Akademik sport center:


Academic Sports Center UP has as its main goal to provide students and university staff with a wide range of tempting sports and recreational activities at unbeatably low prices. Around 40 different types of regular sporting activities, several summer and winter sports courses and training seminars for lecturers are provided by 5 ST staff members and about 70 external lecturers. 


Accommodation in college


College colleges are primarily used by students for long-term accommodation, but they can also be used by the general public to make short-stay hotel accommodation at discounted rates. All flats, apartments and studios are comfortably furnished, have their own standard kitchen unit with dining table, ceramic hob, microwave, refrigerator, basic utensils, kettle, etc. separate bathroom.


The faculty of medicine


The Faculty of Medicine started operating in 1947 as one of the four faculties of the University of Olomouc, renewed in 1946 under the name Palacký University. The faculty primarily provides Master's and Doctoral study programs, as well as continuous lifelong learning, including the University of the Third Age program.

Master's studies include a six-year General Medicine course and a five-year Dentistry course , replacing the field of Dentistry. Foreign students have the opportunity to study the field of General Medicine and newly since the academic year 2010/2011 also the field of Dentistry in English. Newly, the faculty also offers a follow-up Master's degree program in the combined form of Public Health .

The Faculty also offers 25 doctoral degree programs , both in Czech and English. Practical training of future physicians is realized mainly at the Olomouc University Hospital.

Project of the Faculty of Medicine UP The Development of Infrastructure for Science, Research and Teaching at the Faculty of Medicine of the UP - Completion of the Theoretical Institutes was recommended by the Selection Committee of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for funding. Since 2013, a completely new building has been added to the Theoretical Institutions Building at Hněvotínská Street in Olomouc.


Scholarships

J. L. Fischer Scholarship to foreign doctoral students

Palacký University Olomouc announces the competition for the J. L. Fischer Grant for the academic year 2018/19. This grant is designated for 18 future students on doctoral study programmes in foreign languages at seven faculties of Palacký University, at an annual amount of € 3–11 000 in order to cover the costs in connection with studying. You may apply in electronic form at the individual faculties in the period from 1 March 2017 to until 30 May 2018.
